Electric Vehicle charge points

In early September, the City of Antwerp in Belgium, awarded the extension and development of its public network of standard and high-power charge (HPC) points for Electric Vehicles (EV) to TotalEnergies. At the end of September, TotalEnergies and China Three Gorges Corporation joined forces to develop more than 11,000 high-power charge points for electric vehicles in Wuhan and the Hubei Province in China. TotalEnergies thereby pursues its development in electric mobility in major cities throughout the world, with a large portfolio of EV charge points currently in operation or in the process of being installed: Amsterdam and conurbation (22,000), Paris (2,300), London (1,700), Singapore (1,500), Antwerp (3,000), etc. TotalEnergies also announced in October, a commitment to allocate up to €200 million over a year to equip more than 150 of its highway and expressway service stations in France with high-power charge points for electric vehicles.

France and Worldwide

Hydrogen

TotalEnergies and Air Liquide joined forces in September to decarbonize hydrogen production at TotalEnergies’ Normandy platform in France. In the long term, this project will enable Air Liquid to supply TotalEnergies with low-carbon hydrogen via its hydrogen network in Normandy and the implementation of a large scale CO2 capture and storage (CCS) solution. In October, TotalEnergies, Air Liquide, and VINCI, combined forces with other large international companies to create the world’s largest fund dedicated to the development of clean hydrogen infrastructure solutions. The fund will invest in the entire value chain of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen, in the most promising regions in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Total commitments to the fund have already reached €800 million out of a target of around €1.5 billion at signature.

Batteries for electric vehicles

In September, Stellantis, TotalEnergies and Mercedes-Benz entered into agreements to welcome Mercedes-Benz as a new partner of Automotive Cells Company (ACC), to become an equal shareholder alongside the other two partners, each with a third equity stake. Mercedes-Benz will provide its technology and production know-how to Automotive Cells Company (ACC). The partners will accelerate ACC’s development with an objective of at least 120 GWh of cell capacity by 2030. ACC results from the initiative taken in 2020 by Stellantis and TotalEnergies, together with its affiliate Saft, and supported by the French, German and European authorities, to create a European battery champion for electric vehicles.

Floating Offshore Wind

TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Group, a pioneer in floating offshore wind, announced in October the launch of a joint venture, TotalEnergies SBE US, to unlock the vast potential for floating offshore wind projects in the United States.

The partnership will transform the untapped deepwater offshore wind opportunities into projects that will provide renewable electricity to millions of homes.

Iraq

Supporting the energy transition

In September, TotalEnergies signed major agreements for the sustainable development of the Basra region's natural resources. These agreements signal the return of TotalEnergies to Iraq, the country where our Company was born in 1924. The ambition is to assist Iraq in building a more sustainable future by developing access to electricity for its people through a more sustainable use of the country’s natural resources such as: reduction of gas flaring that generates air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, water resource management and development of solar energy. This project perfectly illustrates the new sustainable development model of TotalEnergies, a multi-energy Company which supports producing countries in their energy transition by combining the production of natural gas and solar energy to meet the growing demand for electricity. It also demonstrates how TotalEnergies can leverage its unique position in the Middle East, a region where the lowest-cost hydrocarbons are produced, to gain access to large-scale renewable projects. These projects represent a total investment of approximately $10 billion.
